Grill heats up quickly and stays hot for a long time. There are also air vents both top and bottom to adjust the heat. Great reviews from Weber owners. Looks like Weber thought of everything with this model. We bought this for my husband for Father's day.
I received it quickly and Amazon had the best price. But quality is great and I highly recommend this product. Removing ash is very easy with the One-Touch cleaning system. Although I gave 4 stars, I would have given 5 except I thought it was a bit pricey. The assembly was fairly easy. Our ribs came out excellent on this. A table is a must and to already have it attached is nice. We have a gas grill but you cannot beat a charcoal grill in flavor.
I researched grills and talked to people who own a Weber. Again Weber thought of everything with this model. Great product. I choose this model because it has the attached table and the charcoal keeper is an added bonus. There is also a temperature gauge that pulls out and can be used to test the temperature on the meat you are cooking.
While some may think it crazy to purchase a $300+ charcoal grill, they clearly don't own this one. If the thought of plastic makes you uncomfortable, Weber provides a 10-year warranty. From the charcoal bin that protects charcoal from the elements, to the gas charcoal ignition system, this thing is well thought out. Gone are the days of using chimneys and newspaper, or GOD FORBID, lighter fluid. It's impossible to know where to start.
This is the best put together grill with the best warranty/customer service money can buy. I know that it'll be with me for 15 or 20 years to come if not longer. Ignore negative reviews telling you the old version is better, or that this thing is cheap. The old Performers had a stainless table top, rather than the new thermoset plastic.
I must admit, I never owned a stainless one, but this new version does not have a cheap feel, is extreme heat resistant, and is easy to clean. My purchase of this Weber was due to the plethora of positive reviews from fellow Amazon members. Also a lovely added touch is the built in thermometer. After letting it burn for about five minutes, you just turn off the gas and the coals will be ready in an additional 20 minutes or so. With the Performer, this is a breeze. The grill comes with two metal charcoal holders which are placed in the grill over a propane burner that ignites the coals.
This has taken all the guesswork out of grilling. After a brief call to the friendly folks at Weber, a new thermoset top was being shipped to me with no questions asked, but many apologies.
While I'm out on my deck cooking or just relaxing, I find myself constantly admiring it and feel lucky to own one. Nice work Weber.
Overall, I could not be happier with my grill. After owning this grill for two months, I must say that every feature is a must have, and this thing is worth every penny.
This is the perfect time for prepping the lovely items you'll be enjoying shortly. A note about charcoal: Many think it's a hassle and takes to much time to fire up.
Most impressive is the thermoset table top and below grill storage rack, giving the user ample space for utensils, plates, gloves etc. I just had an issue (which I feel is an extremely isolated incident) where there was a crack that developed on the edge of the table top.
Works great. The grill is almost air tight. They cost about $3/container and according to weber last about 12 lightings but this is not very environmentally friendly. I have only had this grill a few weeks but so far I love it and would recommend it to my friends. I would also recommend the custom Weber cover. When you close the bottom and top vents the charcoal goes out. It fits and looks great.
The charcoal is red hot in 20 min.2) Large ash collector. 2) Disposable propane gas containers. I am looking for a scoop to purchase and leave in the bin. It will take some time to fill this up.3) Work table is very useful.4) Charcoal storage bin is very convenient.5) Assembly was easy and straight forward.6) Charcoal baskets. This is very close to the convenience of gas grilling with the taste of charcoal.Cons:1) You still need to handle charcoal.
I found it to be well worth the cost.Pros:1) Gas light. You only need to add about half as many briquettes the next time.Best of all I had forgotten how good charcoal grilled food taste. Flip the grate and reach in with tongs and slide the basket.7) Weber kettle quality. Run the gas for 5 min. This makes it easy to move your heat if you want to switch to indirect cooking.
Love the beautiful cobalt color too. This one with the work surface and propane starter is great. Definitely get the cover too. This was a father's day gift for my husband, and he loves it and says it's so easy to use. We are charcoal people, and have had a Weber for years.
My husband was against it at first, and just wanted the single dome, but I bought the Performer anyway. Bought it for my husband for his birthday and threw a barbeque--- this was such a hit w/everyone and received many compliments on them. I highly recommend this product. He was very pleasantly surprised w/how much easier it was to have the storage and table accessible. The grill was perfect considering you still have the charcoal flavor w/out having to mess around w/a lighter fluid. The table and charcoal storage was very convenient and handy.
